US authorities seized websites of Iranian state-controlled newsgroups, Press TV and Al-Alam. Al-Masirah TV channel of Yemen Houthis was also one of the seized websites, according to statements published on the web portals.

The statements, which had seals of the FBI and the US Department of Commerce, said that the site has “been seized by the United States Government”. The statement also made a reference to US sanction laws, reported AFP.

Al-Alam’s parent organisation Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) said that multiple such sites had been seized by US authorities. These included religious and cultural channels in Arabic and a Palestinian-directed broadcast.

IRIB accused the United States of repressing freedom of expression and joining forces with Israel and Saudi Arabia “to block pro-resistance media outlets exposing the crimes of US allies in the region”, reported AFP.
