A car went airborne and crashed into a home in St Louis, Missouri, killing a 73-year-old woman on Tuesday.

The crash occurred close to the intersection of Kingston Drive and Telegraph Road at about 2:30 in the afternoon. The front wall of the house was in ruins and the car was laying upside down in it.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, the car was moving “extremely high speed” southbound on Kingston Drive toward Telegraph Road when it veered off the road, hit an embankment, and shot into the air.

The car caused serious damage when it struck the house. The crash also impacted a second house. Police reported that the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cheryl Doyon of St. Louis was recognized as the driver on Wednesday afternoon. A St. Louis County Police official stated, “This was not a blatant speeding situation but may have been the result of a medical emergency.” As of Tuesday night, the victim’s identity had not been disclosed.

The car is shown flying through the air after the collision, striking the front stairs of one house before crashing into the living room of another, as filmed by a nearby home’s Ring doorbell footage. Local residents complained that Kingston Drive sees far too many high-speed collisions like this one.
