Squadron or HMX-1 oversees the presidential travel aircraft and members of the team have to undergo a special process called Yankee White to receive top-secret clearance reserved only for personnel close to the president. The helicopter is called Marine One when the president boards the aircraft.

The squadron’s role is testing and evaluating the helicopters. In 2004, Daniel enlisted in the Marine Corps and later joined the Marine Helicopter Squadron One in 2006, as per officials.

He was responsible for aircraft maintenance as a presidential helicopter crew chief. A post on the Marine Helicopter Squadron One is highly selective.

While his assignments covered the Obama and George W. Bush administrations, Andries left the Marines in November 2009 as a lance corporal, according to his service record.

As per service records obtained by The Washington Post, more than 30 veterans have been charged with offences committed during Capitol riots.
