A video of a Russian pilot condemning Russia’s war against Ukraine has been going viral on the internet. The 45-seconds-long video shows a pilot making an in-flight announcement in the Russian language.

Uploaded by Ukrainian diplomat Olexander Scherba on Twitter, the video features the Pobeda Airlines pilot stating that “the war with Ukraine is a crime.”

The pilot further adds that he believes that all “sensible citizens” will agree with his opinion and would do everything possible to put an end to the war.

“Ladies and gentlemen, here is your captain speaking. Welcome to Antalya. Thank you for flying with Pobeda. Also, from me personally: the war with Ukraine is a crime. This brave pilot makes a statement,” reads the caption of the video.

Uploaded on Saturday, the video has garnered over 367,000 views and several comments.

One user wrote, “Antalya is in Turkey, not in Russia, so I’m sure he’s fine. With a stunt like that I’m 100% certain he had no intention of flying back to Russia. He didn’t have to make the statement but he did it anyways. Gotta love that Russian flair. They sure know how to burn bridges.”

Another user added, “Incredibly brave stance by this pilot.”

Several users expressed concern over the pilot’s safety, wondering if he is alive after making his stance public.

“Whatever your thoughts are on this situation, this pilot and others like him are putting themselves at real risk for torture and death. Russia is jailing people who speak out, and they are known to starve people to death. Putin himself has said dissidents ought to be starved,” said one Twitter user.
