A mass shooting in the southeast suburb of Washington DC left at least seven injured. Authorities are searching for a potentially armed suspect. He has been described as a young Indian man associated with a black Honda car and wearing a hoodie.

The incident marks the fourth shooting in the US capital in 2023. As per several social media users, three people where found shot and injured at the 5th Street and Labaum St. Two more were found on the 9th St and Alabama Ave SE.

“At least one more arrived at a hospital,” a Twitter user said.

Spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Department Hugh Carew said that a call reported the shooting just after 10 PM on Friday night. Authorities said that they believe as many as seven people were shot on a residential street in the Congress Heights neighborhood.

Multiple shell casings were found on the ground. As per The Sun, a 12-year-old girl was shot several blocks away. Police officers are unsure if her shooting is connected to other victims.

Police said that one of the seven victims is in critical condition. Washington DC Fire Department and EMS have taken four people to the hospital while others are in trauma centers.

“The increase in the rate of mass violence, is over taking the planning of the next presidential 2024 election. Again for the fourth time, another mass shooting in Washington DC. As the days progress, how many more violent events will pile up in the coming weeks?” a Twitter user reacted to the mass shooting.

“DC Police on scene investigating a shooting with reports of multiple people shot. One person has a stab wound. Injured people are being found at different locations,” another one noted.
