United Arab Emirates’ famous skyscraper Burj Khalifa on Friday, displayed the images of Mahatma Gandhi, as a tribute to mark his 151st birth anniversary. 

Viewers could see animations of Gandhi’s figure with messages like, “The future depends on what you do today.” It also showed the Indian National flag along with the famous “charkha”.

An official of the Indian Consulate was quoted by Gulf News saying, “The special Gandhi show on Burj Khalifa will be live-streamed on social media pages of the consulate. We are thankful to Emaar for their support.”

Along with the display, the Consulate officials also held a cleanliness drive in the premises of the mission with a total of 151 trees to be planted on different sites to mark the occasion with the support from the Indian community.

A special LED show on Burj Khalifa marked the commencement of the two-year line up of programmes of 150 years of Gandhian ideologies in the UAE in 2018. The show, which was jointly organised by the Indian Embassy, Abu Dhabi, Indian Consulate in Dubai and Emaar Properties, was repeated in 2019 as well.
