The huge $1.08 billion jackpot, the third-largest prize in the Powerball lottery, was won by a Californian player on Wednesday night.

7, 10, 11, 13, 24, and the red Powerball 24 were the winning numbers.

According to the California lottery, the winning ticket was purchased from Las Palmitas Mini Market in downtown Los Angeles.

The new billionaire will have the option of receiving a lump sum payment of $558.1 million or the $1.08 billion payday.

Three ticketholders won a $2 million prize for matching each of the white balls and the Power Play.

36 players, including 2 from New Jersey and 5 from New York, correctly matched all five white balls to win the $1 million jackpot.

After 39 drawings without a jackpot winner, starting on April 19 when a ticket holder in Ohio won $252.6 million, Wednesday night’s prize finally happened.

The Grand Prize jackpot’s incredible odds of winning are 1 in 292,201,338.

It is the third time in California that a Powerball winner has received at least $1 billion.

The greatest prize in Powerball history, worth $2.04 billion, was won in November by a Californian named Edwin Castro.

Castro, who has bagged the winning ticket, chose to accept the cash reward of $997.6 million and spent $25.5 million on a lavish Hollywood Hills mansion.

In 2016, a California couple named Marvin and Mae Acosta shared a $1.6 billion prize with winners in Florida and Tennessee.

After winning, the couple decided to remain nameless for six months and took the monetary settlement, which was worth an estimated $327.8 million before taxes.

The Mega Millions jackpot rose to an estimated $720 million while its next drawing is set for Friday night.
