Ahead of the midterm elections, Donald Trump will be arriving in Michigan to address his supporters.

On Saturday, April 2, the former president will campaign for local Republican candidates at the Michigan Stars Sports Center in Washington Township. Kristina Karamo, who is running for Michigan Secretary of State as a Republican, and Matt DePerno, who is running for Attorney General, will both be in attendance.

The Right Side Broadcasting Network will stream the rally live on YouTube. Newsmax, OAN, RSBN, and other internet sites will also broadcast the rally. The doors to the venue in Michigan will open at 2 p.m. local time, with a number of dignitaries and candidates scheduled to speak before Trump takes the stage at 7 p.m. EST.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson issued a warning about the continued dangers to election integrity and security ahead of Trump’s presence in Michigan. Benson, a Democrat, is Michigan’s chief election official, and in the aftermath of Trump’s 2020 setback, he defended the state from Trump’s attacks.

Benson earlier this week  told reporters, “The threats against our democracy are truly a five-alarm fire and in that fire, Michigan is ground zero.”

According to the Detroit Free Press, local leaders in Michigan have voiced concerns about the logistics of Trump’s rally.

“I do not want to allow it,” Rob Schmelzer, the township’s assistant fire chief and the fire marshal, told the newspaper. “I have nothing against the past president. This has to do with the venue.”

Washington Township officials are concerned, according to the Free Press, that the event would bring many more people than the building’s 5,760 capacity, posing a safety risk.

In the contest for Attorney General, Trump is backing Matthew DePerno, and in the race for Secretary of State, he is backing Kristina Karamo. On April 23, Republican delegates will endorse nominees at a state convention in Grand Rapids, and both are in tight contests for GOP nominations.

Trump will be in Michigan for the first time since the night before the November 2020 presidential election.
