Following the false shooting report via a 911 call, security was increased near the school premises. The local police authorities took quick steps out of caution to post more police officers in that area than what is usually required.
According to a statement released by the Clayton County Public Schools, the police have reasons to believe that the call was made from within the community itself. They also said in the statement that the person behind the call is being investigated by the local police. The caller did not reveal their identity and hung up after reporting the incident of the school shooting.
“Officers are currently investigating an alleged 911 hang-up call from within the community. Out of an abundance of caution, through collaborative efforts with municipal police departments and CCPS Police Department, there is enhanced security in the area to ensure all students and staff remain safe”, the statement said.
