White House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is under fire for appearing without a mask at a Washington DC bar. A clip purportedly from November 16 also shows representative Yvette Clarke violating the district’s mask mandate as she and Pelosi speak to a small group of people inside ‘Swingers – The crazy golf club’ in Dupont Circle, according to media reports.

On November 15, Democratic DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that the indoor mask mandate will be lifted on November 22. The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) altered guidelines it had released in May, stating that masks were required to be worn indoors by fully vaccinated people, amid a surge in COVID-19 cases due to the delta variant.

The current mask mandate in DC dictates that masks must be worn inside “any business or establishment open to members of the public (including but not limited to: grocery stores, restaurants and bars (when not eating or drinking), places of worship, gyms, office buildings, libraries, indoor entertainment venues, and common areas of apartment or condominium complexes).”

The “Swingers” golf club clip obtained by Daily Caller triggered criticism of Pelosi on social media.

“How many times do we have to see these hypocrites get caught before anything can be done?” wrote one Twitter user. “Mask it or casket, Karen,” said another.

Pelosi was slammed for hypocrisy after she penalised House Republicans like Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene  thousands of dollars for violating mask mandates in the House chamber.

Greene filed a lawsuit against Pelosi, arguing that the requirement was unconstitutional. The lawmaker from Georgia last month bragged about her “$25,000 in mask fines.”
