A fourth-grade teacher from Tennessee identified as Alissa McCommon has been arrested for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old and befriending other former students online. She was arrested on Friday by the Covington Police Department and was booked into the Tipton County Jail.

Who is Alissa McCommon?

Alissa McCommon is 38 years old. She is the mother of two children. She has been accused of sexually assaulting a former student in 2021 in her home, as confirmed by Police Chief Donna Turner.

As per media reports, she could face up to 25 years in prison if found guilty of her act. According to Covington Police Chief Donna Turner, multiple young victims have revealed being befriended by their ex-teacher, McCommon. Initially, they played video games together, but their friendship grew to include further connection through social networking apps on their mobile phones. McCommon is accused of sending improper images and soliciting sexual interactions with the victims. McCommon is said to have admitted to inappropriate correspondence with previous students.

According to the WREG report, McCommon was suspended without pay on August 24 following a complaint made by a parent. Following this parent’s disclosure, numerous more students said that McCommon had befriended them online and even engaged in video gaming with them, according to the source.

She has also been accused of sending inappropriate pictures to former students, requesting them to have physical relations with her, as per media reports.

Chief Turner in a statement said, “It is unbearable. It’s unspeakable and it’s 100 percent preventable. I think that’s why the detectives and we are so passionate about making sure victims are okay.”

The investigation in the case is currently ongoing, and police officials are interviewing all the victims and people related to the case to process further.
