Treasurer for American Conservative Union, Bob Beauprez, resigned on Tuesday, over unsettling concerns about funding Schlapp’s legal defense in a sexual assault case on Thursday.

Beauprez sent a letter on Tuesday to the board of directors stating he failed to deliver a financial report with an accuracy of the numbers at the forthcoming board meeting.

Who is Bob Beauprez?

Robert Louis “Bob” Beauprez ran for Governor of Colorado as a Republican in the 2014 elections. On November 4, 2014, Bob Beauprez was defeated in the general election.

Beauprez was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007, representing Colorado’s 7th congressional district.

He ran for governor for the first time in 2006, while still serving in Congress. On November 7, 2006, he was defeated by Democrat Bill Ritter by a margin of 17 percentage points in the general election.

Beauprez defeated three opponents in the Republican primary on June 24, 2014, winning the party’s nomination with 30% of the vote. In the general election, he ran against Democratic incumbent Gov. John Hickenlooper and several minor party and unaffiliated candidates, and Hickenlooper barely won.

Bob has been making it to the headlines after he blamed Schlapp for excessive staff departures. He in a letter to the board of directors said, “A cancer has been metastasizing within the organization for years. It must be diagnosed, treated, and cured, or it will destroy”, “I’ve come to think that the expectations for my role as a director and officer is much the same as that of a mushroom — ‘To be kept in the dark and fed a lot of manure.’ I no longer am willing to comply”, as reported by Washington Post.

However, Schlapp denied all the allegations in the letter calling them, “routine internal complaints of disgruntled employees”.
