A suspect was arrested in connection to the sexual assault case at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which left a student with life-threatening injuries early Sunday morning.

Who is Brandon Thompson?

The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Brandon A. Thompson, a city resident. He was arrested on charges of first-degree sexual assault, first-degree reckless injury, and strangulation Wednesday morning, Madison police spokeswoman Alyssa Cains told Fox News Digital.

The victim was found by the police around 3:20 a.m. Sunday, a short distance from Lake Monona. She was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.

The authorities said after a preliminary investigation that the suspect in all likelihood was believed to be a stranger. Shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday. Jail records showed Thompson was booked into custody.

The victim was strangled, beaten, and sexually assaulted, a friend of the victim told Milwaukee’s WISN-TV. As a result, she sustained a broken jaw. The victim had been abducted off the sidewalk and dragged between two houses, an unnamed neighbor said.

Residents in the area were asked by the police to avoid walking alone in the area. They were also told to keep an eye out for their surroundings.
