Brent Bien is an American politician who is on the ballot for the Republican primaries that are going to be held on August 16, 2022. He is running for the Governor of Wyoming seat.

Bien is set to go up against Mark Gordon, James Quick and Rex Rammell.

Who is Brent Bien?

Bien is a native of Laramie, Wyoming. After school, he attended the University of Wyoming where he graduated with a degree in civil engineering. Shortly after, Bien attended the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. He was in the armed forces from 1991 as a Marine Corps Aviator.

Since 1991, he served in both support and leadership positions across the globe in places like Bosnia/Herzegovina, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. He retired in 2019 with the rank of Colonel.

According to Bien’s website, he proclaims himself to be a “common man”. This will be his first time running for a public office. However, the Wyoming native has “helped shape legislative and procedural change in North Carolina, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands”.

Two things stand out about Bien when it comes to his platform. Predominantly, he wants to “Protect Personal Freedoms”, “Pursue Government Accountability” and “Promote State Sovereignty”.

Since his return to Wyoming in 2019, Bien has been concerned about what he calls a “lack of leadership” in the capital city of Cheyenne, according to a report from State Daily.

Bien told the State Daily that he decided to run for office after he realised there was no one in Washington D.C. to look out for the best interests of the people of Wyoming.

According to his website, Bien has listed a variety of things that he supports and opposes. On his list of things he supports, he wants to protect Constitutional Rights, is a supporter of the Second Amendment, wants the government to be accountable and wants the shift towards “Green Energy” to be market-driven.

On the list of things he is against, Bien disagrees with vaccine mandates and compulsory vaccinations, “Race and Class-based Scholastic Indoctrination”, the legalisation of Marijuana as well as “Secular Progressive Socialism, Fascism”.
