Steve Garvey, the former Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres star is planning to throw his hat into the race for US Senate after the seat was left vacant by the death of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) last month.

The 10-time MLB All-Star, announced in a statement, “Our campaign is focused on quality-of-life issues, public safety, and education,” Garvey said in a statement. “As a US Senator, I will serve with commonsense, and compassion, and will work to build consensus to benefit all of the people of California.”

Garvey is going to try and run for Senate in California with his wife, Candace’s support.

“I like to think of myself as a concerned citizen. I started seeing a severe dysfunction in Washington. Career politicians were focusing on the business of politics and not the people. And I decided if there isn’t a voice in California, then I should take a few months and see if there’s a pathway for Steve Garvey to run for the U.S. Senate.” he said via Fox News

Who is Candace Garvey?

Steve married his wife in 1989 after he had retired from the MLB. She was his second wife, the first one being Cyndy Garvey, whom he divorced in 1983.
