In Texas, authorities reported that a man accused of fatally shooting a U.S. Army veteran was released on bail following a prior arrest.

Who is Corey Thompson?

Corey Antwon Thompson, 45, was apprehended on Tuesday, six days after the killing of 46-year-old Roderick Butler, as disclosed by the Dallas Police Department.

Thompson faces charges related to Butler’s murder on December 20. Law enforcement revealed that Thompson was previously released on bail from an earlier arrest. The fatal incident occurred outside a Wells Fargo bank at approximately 5 p.m. the previous Wednesday, where authorities suspect Thompson deliberately targeted Butler near a strip center off McKinney Avenue and Pearl Street.

Surveillance footage captured Thompson wearing blue latex gloves as he approached Butler. Thompson was identified through photos, displaying him carrying a gun and wearing gloves, a hoodie, and a mask.

After a woman reported an attempted robbery by an individual matching Thompson’s description, the police were able to locate him. She provided information about his vehicle, linking it to a previous police interaction. Emergency personnel transported Butler to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
