Ellen Pompeo is an American actor and producer who is famously known for playing the role of Dr Meredith Grey on the show Grey’s Anatomy, which is set to return for its 18th season on September 30.

Pompeo has been ranking consistently as one of the world’s highest paid actresses on the Forbes’ year-end lists since 2017.

She ranks eighth on the Forbes highest paid actresses’ list for 2020 earning about $550,000 per episode for her starring role on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. She adds about $6 million a year from her share of syndication profits, according to reports cited by Forbes.

Pompeo was born in Everett, Massachusetts and is of Italian, Irish, and some English, ancestry, according to IMDB.

Her major studio screen debut was alongside Susan Sarandon, Dustin Hoffman and Jake Gyllenhaal in Brad Silberling’s Moonlight Mile (2002). 

The actor received rave reviews for her portrayal of an outspoken young woman carrying a silent burden that’s breaking her heart.

Other works from Pompeo include Old School, in which she appeared opposite Will Ferrell, Luke Wilson and Vince Vaughn.

She also worked with Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio Steven Speilberg;s Catch Me If You Can.

In addition to her acting career, she has directed two episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and founded a production company, Calamity Jane, which sold its first project to ABC, an untitled show about female agents on the Secretary of State’s security detail.

She has been married to music producer Chris Ivery since 2007 and the two have three children.
