In the video, she said, “Hi, my name is Isabella Martin and I am a senior here at Michigan State University. Over the past three years I have made some amazing memories, met great people and formed meaningful relationships with my professors. Never once did I feel unsafe or fearful for my life on this campus, and today it all changed, I felt like a hostage in my own home, looking out the window, ducking, turning off the lights, scared when a car drove by because the campus was on lockdown, listening to the police scanner tonight, there is no words to describe the feelings that I and my friends felt tonight, there’s just no words. Nobody should ever feel this way or be in a situation like this, especially one of my friends who was taking an exam the police barged in the room and said to her and her fellow classmates that they needed to hide and run because there was an active shooter. She ran and she was without her phone and her computer and her personal items for hours and the fear that myself and my roommates felt in that moment was indescribable, we thought that our friend was hurt, injured, we didn’t know if she was alive and it wasn’t until she got one of her classmates’ phones and contacted us through social media that we knew she was okay. When is enough, enough? This situation should have never happened.”
