Jack Patrick Dorsey or Jack Dorsey is the co-founder and CEO of social media giant Twitter. He, along with CEOs of Facebook and Youtube, has been sued by former US President Donald Trump, who alleges that the social media companies have wrongfully censured him and his supporters.

Born on November 19, 1976, in St. Louis, Missouri, Dorsey is of half-English and half-Italian descent. Dorsey attended the Catholic Bishop DuBourg High School in his hometown of St. Louis. He occasionally worked as a fashion model when he was young. He was into coding and by the age of 14, had developed a special interest in the domain of dispatch routing. Some of his open-source software in dispatch logistics is used even today by cab companies. Dorsey attended the University of Missouri%u2013Rolla, after two years there, he transferred to New York University in 1997, but he dropped out two years later, just one semester before graduating. He came up with the idea that eventually became Twitter while studying at NYU.

Apart from being the person who set up and saw Twitter grow, Dorsey is also into yoga and philanthropy. He is also the founder and CEO of Square, a financial payments company.

As the CEO of Twitter, Dorsey has come to loggerheads with many politicians, home and abroad. Most notable among them has been Donald Trump, who became the first US President to be suspended by numerous social media sites, including Twitter, after the January 6 Capitol riots. Trump on Wednesday filed a lawsuit against Dorsey among others in a Miami federal court, alleging shadow banning and censorship by Twitter against him and his supporters.
