A man named Joel Bowman has been recognized by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) as the person who attempted to enter a Jewish school in Memphis while brandishing a gun.

As part of the ongoing shooting investigation pertaining to the event at the Memphis Jewish school, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) acquired warrants and formally accused Joel Bowman on August 2.

Who is Joel Bowman?

Joel Bowman has been charged with numerous charges in connection with the event at the Memphis Jewish School, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). He is accused of reckless endangerment, attempted second-degree murder, criminal possession of a firearm while committing a crime, assaulting a first responder, and carrying weapons on school grounds.

He allegedly opened fire on Monday afternoon as he attempted to enter the Margolin Hebrew Academy on White Station Road. Law police personnel located Bowman in the vicinity of Berclair after the incident. He was shot by the officers when he came out of his car clutching the pistol.

Charles LaVene, who has known Bowman since the two of them were best friends and went to the Margolin Hebrew Academy together, asserted with an assurance that he does not think his friend intended to harm anyone.

LaVene while talking to WREG said, “He went during a time when there was no camp, there was no school. He just went on his own because he had a mission of whatever he internally was dealing with himself, but it wasn’t to harm anybody.”

LaVene claimed that Bowman has PTSD, which may be related to the horrific passing of his father in 2003 when police shot and killed him as a result of a mental health episode. Doctors recently changed Bowman’s medication, and LaVene saw major behavioral changes in his friend after the shift.
