On December 31, 2023, the Las Vegas Strip witnessed a startling event at the MGM Signature Towers. Jon Letzkus, a 45-year-old poker player, was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred around 5:55 a.m. at 100 East Harmon Avenue. Witnesses reported hearing 30 to 40 shots, presumably fired from a balcony within the towers.
This led to a significant response from law enforcement, including SWAT teams, and the initiation of lockdown procedures. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in this incident. Authorities had Letzkus in custody by approximately 10:25 a.m., alleviating any further threat to the community.
Who is Jon Letzkus?
Jon Letzkus is known within the poker community for his participation in various tournaments. With total live earnings of $14,807, his career in poker has been modest but notable. His best live cash was $5,570 at the LA Poker Open in Los Angeles in November 2013, where he placed 33rd.

Letzkus also showed his skills in the 50th World Series of Poker (WSOP) in 2019, ranking 134th in the No Limit Hold’em – Deepstack event with a win of $2,603.
In 2020, during the World Series of Poker Online, Letzkus ranked 46th in the No Limit Hold’em – Turbo Deepstack event, earning $2,061. He also participated in the Pot Limit Omaha – 6-Handed event, securing the 88th position.
