An 18-year-old is wanted in Worcester State University shooting.

The Worcester County District Attorney has officially identified a suspect sought in connection with a tragic shooting incident that occurred on the premises of Worcester State University.

Who is Kevin Rodriguez?

Law enforcement is actively in pursuit of 18-year-old Kevin Rodriguez, who was last known to reside in Lawrence. Rodriguez faces serious charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and armed assault with intent to murder. Authorities have issued a stark warning, considering him armed and dangerous, urging anyone who encounters him to immediately dial 911.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning, around 2:30 a.m., when a disturbance erupted in the vicinity of a parking garage located on the university campus. Subsequently, students were directed to shelter in place in the aftermath of the shooting.

Tragically, this altercation resulted in the loss of a 19-year-old male, while a 21-year-old man sustained injuries. The identities of these victims have not been publicly disclosed. During a press conference held on Saturday, the District Attorney stated that the shooting does not appear to have been a random act.

Importantly, it has been clarified that neither the victims nor the individuals involved in the incident are affiliated with Worcester State University as students.

In response to these events, Worcester State University has made the difficult decision to cancel all weekend activities, including the eagerly anticipated homecoming and family weekend. The institution is also extending counseling services to students who may require support during this distressing time.
