Matt Larkin of the Republican Party is campaigning for the United States House of Representatives to represent Washington’s 8th Congressional District. On August 2, 2022, he will be on the primary ballot.

Matt Larkin graduated with honours from Westmont College in 2004, the George Washington University School of Law in 2009, and the Gonzaga University School of Law in 2007.

He is a lawyer and co-owner of his family’s manufacturing company. He ran unsuccessfully for attorney general in 2020 and is now campaigning for the seat, having loaned $530,000 to his own campaign.

He will compete against Reagan Dunn and Jesse Jensen. They fight to persuade Republicans and Republican-leaning independents that they have what it takes to unseat Rep. Kim Schrier this November.

Reagan Dunn, a long-serving member of the Metropolitan King County Council, hopes to follow in the footsteps of his mother, the late Jennifer Dunn, who represented the district for six terms between 1993 and 2005.

Jesse Jensen, a renowned US Army combat veteran and tech manager, is seeking for re-election after coming within 4 percentage points of Schrier in 2020 despite being significantly outspent.

All three are emphasising rising consumer pricing, supply chain issues, and crime worries in order to demonstrate that the country has veered off track as a result of Democratic policies.

In a reminder of Biden’s party’s challenging electoral environment, Schrier, who faces no plausible Democratic challengers in the primary, has unfathomably sought to separate herself from him, recently launching TV ads suggesting she was “standing up” to the president on fuel price.

Larkin has stayed out of the debate while attempting to position himself as the most conservative of the top three contestants and drawing attention to his campaign slogan, “Make Crime Illegal Again.”

Larkin highlights his background in the corporate sector and his conservative values. He served as a White House speechwriter in the final year of George W. Bush’s presidency after graduating from law school.

He served as a deputy prosecutor in Pierce County for a few months before joining his family’s company, Romac Industries, as legal counsel. His grandparents created a manufacturing company in Bothell that develops pipe-related items for water and sewer systems.
