The charges against Addison, confirmed by Assistant State Attorney David Dodd, include two counts of murder, two counts of killing a person with a vehicle, two counts of dangerous depraved without premeditation, fleeing and eluding with lights and siren active, driving on a suspended license resulting in death, resisting an officer with violence, and aggravated fleeing with death. During the 4 1/2-minute hearing, the judge ordered Addison held on no bond for all but three counts. A public defender will initially represent him, according to Charles “Tony” Schwab, chief judge of the 19th Judicial Circuit.
The incident leading to Addison’s arrest began when FHP Trooper Zachary Fink, a three-year veteran, pursued a person driving recklessly in a white Kia on I-95 just before 3 a.m. The Kia attempted a U-turn to escape the pursuit, resulting in a collision with a semi tractor-trailer. The truck driver died at the scene, and Trooper Fink was pronounced deceased at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital after being airlifted.
The suspect, later identified as Michael Anthony Addison, fled on foot, triggering a massive manhunt. Authorities took Addison into custody around 8 a.m.
