A third person involved in a fatal shooting that occurred in southeast Columbus in late May has been detained and appeared in court on Monday, as per court records.

The suspect has been identified as Michael Davis Jr. He has been charged with one count of murder and one count of felony assault.

Who is Michael Davis Jr.?

Michael Davis Jr. is 21 years old. He has been named as the third suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred in southeast Columbus in May. Davis Jr. has been detained and is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail on $500,000 bond.

Following the incident, it was established that Davis Jr. had an active arrest warrant, in accordance with a statement made by the Columbus Division of Police. He was arrested on Saturday after a warrant was issued.

The shooting took place in the parking lot of the Express Beverage Drive-Thru on Lockbourne Road on May 31, at around 8:20 p.m. 

According to the police complaint, a group of people in a car drove past the restaurant and started shooting, at least one bullet striking Adrian Smith, 39, who was hit. Another person, a 31-year-old male sitting in his own car in the parking lot, was shot as well but managed to escape the attack. Adrian Smith was found in the parking lot when law enforcement arrived, and he was declared dead there at 8:26 p.m.

James Dukes-Johnson, 27, and Mareese Davis, 20, were previously detained by law police and charged in connection with the shooting incident. The allegations against James Dukes-Johnson and Mareese Davis included one count of murder and one count of felonious assault, and they were both indicted in July.
