Rep Stephanie Murphy is co-leading the seventh January 6 committee hearing alongside chairman Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney on Tuesday.

“I’m co-leading today’s @January6thCmte hearing, where we’ll show how President Trump grew more desperate, tapped into the threat of violence, and summoned the mob to our nation’s capital,” the representative from Florida’s 7th congressional district tweeted.

Murphy’s district includes all of Seminole County and much of northern Orange County, including downtown Orlando, Maitland, Winter Park, and the University of Central Florida. The 43-year-old is the first Vietnamese-American woman elected to the US Congress.

She serves the House Ways and Means Committee as a member of the Subcommittee on Trade and the Subcommittee on Worker and Family Support. Murphy is the vice chair of the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Special Operations in the House Armed Services Committee. She was appointed to serve on the bipartisan Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.

Stephanie Murphy started off as a businesswoman, college instructor, and consultant. The Congresswoman was the national security specialist in the office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense. She lives in Winter Park, Florida, with her husband and two young children and holds a M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Economics from the College of William and Mary.
