Tudor Dixon is looking to unseat Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer. Dixon, a member of the Republican party, is running in the Michigan primary elections scheduled for August 2, 2022.

US media reports citing early polls suggest that Dixon is a frontrunner in the primary elections for the GOP nomination for Michigan governor. The incumbent is a Democrat.

Who is Tudor Dixon?

Tudor Dixon, who currently resides in Michigan, has been a businesswoman for most of her life. An established figure in Michigan’s steel industry, she describes herself as an expert in the agricultural, automotive, and energy sectors.

Dixon, who is a mom of four young girls, is a graduate in psychology. In her decades-long business career, Dixon also established Lumen News, which “provided pro-America, pro-Constitution morning news programs to grade school students”, according to her website.

Dixon is also a breast cancer survivor. She was forced to quit her jobs early in her career while getting treated, she said on her website. 

Dixon vs Gretchen Whitmer

Tudor Dixon has been a staunch opponent of Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer’s policies. The Republican party member has accused the governor of rolling out “cruel” COVID-19 regulations in Michigan. “Tudor and her four young daughters could only wave goodbye through the outside window before Nana passed”, her website’s biography section read.

Tudor Dixon has largely built her 2022 primary election campaign around her aim to unseat Whitmer, a Democrat. Dixon launched her bid for the gubernatorial elections in May last year.

Dixon has also received numerous endorsements so far. These include Congressman Bill Huizenga, Congresswoman Lisa McClain, Ambassador Ric Grenell, the American Conservative Union, Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan.
