Responding to a report of an unresponsive man on December 30 near Wenco Circle and Wenco Drive, emergency personnel attempted life-saving efforts, but Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, SLCPD detectives obtained video evidence capturing the shooting. The footage reportedly shows Johnson leaving the scene in a car at high speed.
Detectives identified the vehicle as belonging to Johnson, linking her to the crime. Prior to the shooting, an argument between Johnson and Martin escalated, leading Johnson to allegedly pull out a gun and fatally shoot Martin. The firearm used in the incident has not been recovered.
This marks the third murder arrest in Salt Lake City within the week, and authorities emphasize that the cases are unrelated. All charges remain allegations, and individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
