Byron Carillo, the suspect in a quadruple homicide, took his own life during a police chase in Austin. The incident unfolded after Carillo, 21, fled a Dallas home following a shooting that left three adults dead and a 1-year-old and a 15-year-old injured. The toddler succumbed to injuries, while the teenager was treated and released.

The Dallas Police Department responded to the scene in the far southeast area of the city on Sunday. Upon arrival, they discovered five people had been shot. The deceased victims were identified as Logan De La Cruz, 1; Vanessa De La Cruz, 20; Karina Lopez, 33; and Jose Lopez, 50. A 13-year-old girl present during the shooting was unharmed.
Carillo, wearing an ankle monitor due to a 2021 aggravated assault charge, managed to cut it off either before or immediately after the shooting. Subsequently, he stole a vehicle and led law enforcement on a chase toward Austin. The pursuit ended when Carillo crashed the stolen vehicle into a ditch and fled on foot.
As law enforcement officers closed in on him, Carillo tragically shot himself in the head, resulting in his immediate death. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the quadruple homicide.
