A man identified as Rashiem Flanders was shot and killed early on Saturday morning on Staten Island while attempting to step in and break up a fight between two women, as confirmed by police officials.

He was present on Richmond Terrace near Clinton Ave. in New Brighton when a physical dispute between two ladies broke out nearby at around 4:30 a.m.

Who was Rashiem Flanders?

Rashiem Flanders was 37 years old. He was shot dead while trying to break up a fight between two women. He lived in Clifton, which is less than three miles from the gunshot location, according to the police.

According to the authorities, Rashiem Flanders was tragically shot in the head as he sought to step in and break up the conflict. Flanders was quickly taken to Richmond University Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services (EMS), but despite their best efforts, he was unable to be saved and died from his wounds.

The shooter left the scene after the event. Responding officers questioned the two female participants in the initial altercation, but they refused to provide any details about what happened.

There is no evidence that the women were involved in the actual shooting, according to a police source with knowledge of the incident. Although they were familiar with the victim, it is still unknown if they knew the shooter. Detectives are still trying to piece together what happened before the horrific tragedy, as well as to identify and catch the gunman.

Detectives were busy scouring the area on Saturday in search of security material that might contain important hints and aid in identifying the shooter. As of now, no arrests have been made in the case.
