Aaliyah Gonzalez, 18, and 20-year-old Kylis Fagbemi were the two victims who were shot and killed by a gunman who opened fire in South Baltimore, Maryland, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

30 people were shot, including Gonzalez and Fagbemi, by the gunman, who is still at large. Half of the 28 people who survived were kids. According to the Baltimore police, at least two shooters carried out the attack

The shooting took place around 12:30 a.m. when people gathered in the neighborhood for the Fourth of July weekend. The people heard sounds but they thought they sounded like fireworks. However, they later realized they were gunshots.

Who was Aaliyah Gonzalez?

Aaliyah Gonzalez was found dead at the scene when the police responded to calls of a shooting.

Gonzalez’s mother paid tribute to her daughter in a Facebook post, sharing photos of her recent high school graduation. “MY BABY!!! Worst day of my life! I cannot do life without her. I NEED HER!!” she wrote. “Why would they do this to a perfect angel. I love you so much baby. I didn’t get there fast enough. God this is a mistake!!! Please!!”

In a follow-up post, she added: “I always said, ‘No matter how much I say I love you, I love you more than that.’”

Who was Kylis Fagbemi?

Kylis Fagbemi died in the hospital after succumbing to his injuries. not much is known about him. Both Gonzalez and Fagbemi were partying at a block party in the Brooklyn Homes area of South Baltimore, Maryland when the shooting took place.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Rich Worley revealed that the Block Party was not sanctioned by the city. He noted that the officers learned of the illegal gathering sometime on Saturday. “My job is to investigate and see what our officers did once we figured out that there was a large party,” he said.
