The practice of considering race and ethnicity during the college admissions process was found to be unconstitutional by the Supreme Court on Thursday, and as a result, affirmative action has been outlawed in the United States.

A long-standing practice that increased educational possibilities for African Americans and other minorities has been severely undermined by the judgment. Furthermore, it put an end to decades of precedent that had permitted schools all around the country to adopt such initiatives to broaden the variety of their student bodies.

Affirmative action tries to break down ingrained bias against people who identify with particular identities. It usually refers to admissions practices intended to increase the proportion of Black, Hispanic, and other minority students on campus in higher education.

However now, according to some, Affirmative Action ruling may affect white women more than black women.

According to @sloyoroll01973 who shared a picture of Susan Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton, “These two women used every racist tool in the world to promote white supremacy. They wanted to have equal rights with white men but didn’t want Black people to have them too. White women directly benefited from affirmative action…what are they gonna do without it?”

A Twitter user said, “You know who’s going to be really mad when they figure out they were THE main beneficiaries of affirmative action? White women. Cue the meme of the guy shooting himself like why did I do this to me,” while another one posted, “Affirmative Action isn’t about considering race, it’s about anti-discrimination…meaning, you’re not supposed to deny someone a job, education, etc. because of their race and gender. The SCOTUS is setting us back decades. White women get ready, you benefited the most from it.”
