Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has always been talked about on social media, not only for his explosive batting, but also for the confusion regarding his age. On Monday, Afridi increased the confusion further. Afridi took to Twitter to thank everyone for the birthday wishes. He said, “Thank you very much for all the lovely birthday wishes – 44 today! My family and my fans are my biggest assets.”
He added, “Really enjoying my stint with Multan and hope to produce match winning performances for all MS fans.”
According ICC’s website, Afridi was born on March 1, 1980 that makes him 41 years old, three less than what he claims.
In his memoir ‘Game Changer’, Afridi said he was 19 and not 16 when he made his debut, according to NDTV. He also claimed that he was born in 1975, that makes him 21 during his debut.
Afridi made his debut in 1996 against Sri Lanka where he scored a 37-ball century. He went on to become a key player for Pakistan over the years, and was also adjudged the Man of the Match in the final of Pakistan’s 2009 T20 World Cup-winning campaign.
