A six-year-old girl sustained fatal injuries while aboard the Haunted Mine Drop ride in an amusement park in Colorado. According to US media reports, an investigation is underway.
Suzanne Emery, an official working at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, said that “an incident” on Sunday. Media reports suggest that the adventure park will be closed on Monday and Tuesday due to the incident.
The identity of the 6-year-old girl has not been revealed so far by the amusement park management or the investigating authorities.

In a statement released after the incident, Suzzane Emery said, “Out of respect and concern for all parties involved, we will not have further comment until all details have been confirmed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved”, according to reports from Associated Press.
The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. local time Sunday at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, located atop Iron Mountain in Glenwood Springs, about 60 miles west of Vail.
The fatal incident occurred around 8 pm local time on Sunday.

Garfield County Coroner Robert Glassmire said park employees initiated first aid until paramedics arrived and determined the girl had died.
The Coroner’s office, which is also involved in the investigation alongside the Sheriff’s Office of Garfield County, said that an autopsy has been scheduled for later this week.

The Haunted Mine Drop, which opened in July 2017, is billed as the first drop ride to go underground, plunging riders 110 feet (33 meters) inside of Iron Mountain. Park visitors are required to sign a release of liability waiver before going on any rides or attractions.
The amusement park’s website announced the incident on their website. The message read, “We are deeply saddened and ask that you please keep the family of the deceased in your thoughts and prayers”, according to reports from ABC News.
