A video of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s advisor Alexander Dugin reacting to the explosion of his daughter’s automobile has gained online traction. The footage shows Dugin standing at the explosion scene with his hands on his head.

According to Russian officials, Darya Dugina, the daughter of an ultra-nationalist Russian theorist who favours Russia invading Ukraine, was killed in an alleged car bomb attack near Moscow on Sunday.

Dugina was killed on Saturday evening when a suspected explosive device exploded in the Toyota Land Cruiser she was driving, according to authorities.

The explosion occurred while Dugina was returning from a cultural festival she had visited with her father, according to several Russian media reports. They said the car belonged to Dugin, who had made a last-minute decision to travel in another vehicle.

According to Russian state media, Dugin was the intended target of the strike.

The Investigative Committee of Russia’s chief requested that the probe be handled by the organization’s headquarters section.

“An explosive device was placed on the underside of the car on the driver’s side,” the committee stated. “Darya Dugina, who was behind the wheel, died at the scene.”

“The investigation believes that the crime was planned in advance and was of a contractual nature,” it added.

Maria Zakharova, a spokesman for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, said that if the investigation’s path led to Ukraine, it would prove Kyiv’s policy of “state terrorism.”
