Alcatraz is the fourth male tennis player from Spain to reach the top of the world rankings after Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moya, and Rafael Nadal. Alcatraz won the US Open by defeating Casper Rudd and produced some “jaw-dropping” performances on the way.
He emerged victorious even as fine margins prevailed with Rudd also aiming for the top spot with the win. The US Open 2022 was Alcatraz’s first grand slam, but with the Spaniard’s meteoric rise in the last few years, he is projected as the next tennis powerhouse from Spain who can replace the legendary Rafael Nadal.
