The British Royal Family took to Instagram to share some never-seen-before pictures of the Late Prince Philip. Queen Elizabeth II’s husband died on Friday. He was 99.
“Today, members of the Royal Family have shared photographs of The Duke of Edinburgh, remembering him as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather,” reads the caption.
The post mentions the tribute paid by the officers of Britannia Royal Naval College to the Duke of Edinburgh. Prince Philip was a former cadet at the college where he was also awarded the King’s Dirk for the best all-round cadet of the term, as well as a prize for the best cadet in college.

He was also the first youngest lieutenant in the Royal Navy. He left the service in 1952 to support the Queen in her duties.
This post features Prince Philip along with Prince George, third in line for the throne. Prince William expressed his grief over the death of his grandfather.

“My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation. Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead. I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job.” writes Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.
“In the end, it’s really about family. So sweet to be surrounded by their great-grandchildren” comments one on the post. The image features The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh surrounded by seven of their great-grandchildren.
Prince Philip was the longest-serving consort in British history. The Royal Family will be mourning his death for two weeks starting from last Friday.
