China attacked the British Broadcasting Corporation on Friday (BBC)
for its reports on the various misconducts, including systematic rape and
sexual abuse of women, in internment camps located in the country’s Xinjiang
region. China also condemned UK revoking the license of Chinese-state owned
broadcaster CGTN in the United Kingdom by calling it a case of ‘ideological
bias’ on the latter’s part, reported AFP.
A BBC report, which highlighted accounts of systematic
exploitation of Uighur women by China through means such as rape in Xinjiang’s
camps, has been reason for embarrassment to the Asian nation, leading to global
condemnation.

The women in the reports said they were removed from their cells ‘every
night’ and raped by one or more masked Chinese men.
China’s state-owned broadcaster China Global Television Network (CGTN)
was stripped of its broadcast license in the UK on Thursday, with media
watchdog Ofcom concluding they were ultimately controlled by the ruling CCP
(Communist Party of China).
Offcom had previously ruled that CGTN’s coverage of the Hongkong
protests in UK had regularly breached impartiality standards.

The UK had earlier expelled three Chinese ‘journalists’ over accusations
of being spies and posing as mediapersons over the past one year, according to
the Daily Telegraph, who further marked the trio as intelligence officers
assigned to the task by the Ministry of State Security in Beijing.
