COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the five most vaccinated states in United States at a time when millions of people are expected to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday. Vermont, where 73% of the population is fully vaccinated, has recorded an 18% rise in daily infections over the past two weeks, as of November 24, including an average of 370 new COVID-19 cases a day over the past week before Wednesday. Rhode Island, which is 72% vaccinated, saw a 69% rise in new cases during the 14-day time period, with an average of 480 new cases a day from November 17 to November 24.

Maine, also 72% vaccinated, saw a 35% (now 694 daily average of new cases), while 72%-vaccinated Connecticut saw a 120% spike in daily COVID cases (now 751 daily average of new cases).

Massachusetts, which is 71% vaccinated, saw a rise of 81% during the last 14 days before November 24, recording 2,881 cases a day between November 17-24 on average.

National daily cases have been rising since October 24, with a 30% surge in the seven-day daily average of new cases in the past two weeks, according to the Centers For Disease Control And Prevention (CDC).
