As the Wagner Group recently announced the decision to fall back after the escalation on Russia. People around the globe have been curious about the reason which led Yevgeny  Prigozhin to make the decision of de-escalation.

However, some media reports claimed that Prigozhin decided to halt his advance on Moscow after Russian intelligence services issued threats to harm the families of Wagner leaders. The situation escalated to the point where the safety and well-being of the individuals’ families were directly jeopardized.

According to The Telegraph, the actual number of fighters in the mercenary group is 8,000 as opposed to the 25,000 previously indicated. The report concluded that if an attempt had been made to seize the Russian capital, the mercenary group would have faced a high probability of defeat.

Now, it is anticipated that Vladimir Putin will pursue a plan to integrate the Wagner Group soldiers into the Russian military. It is also said that efforts will be made to get rid of the former group leaders. This action is considered a reaction to the Wagner Group’s perceived danger and a way to take command of the circumstance.

The nature of any formal agreement that may have been struck is a subject of debate. Yevgeny Prigozhin would reportedly go to Belarus in exchange for a treason charges pardon, according to a Kremlin announcement. However, Prigozhin has not responded to this suggestion directly. Sergei Shoigu, the Russian military minister, is also still in a precarious situation; it is unknown whether Prigozhin will demand that he be demoted or fired.

Andrey Gurulyov, a Russian Member of Parliament, made a statement suggesting that there was no alternative but to execute Yevgeny Prigozhin and another prominent figure associated with the Wagner Group on Sunday. However, with the announcement of de-escalation by Wagner leaders the scenario has completely changed.
