Former US President Donald Trump on Friday claimed that his speech at the January 6 rally, following which hundreds attacked the Capitol, was ‘extremely calming’. The Republican further claimed that the hundreds of arrested rioters were innocent.

Soon after Trump’s 70-minute address about the 2020 Presidential election been stolen on January 6, hundreds insurrected the US Capitol, causing damage to property.

“I have nothing to hide,” Trump told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Friday night. A congressional panel has been investigating the event and recently six people involved in the organization and planning of rallies were subpoenaed. 

A federal appeals court on Thursday ruled against an effort by former Trump to shield documents from the House committee. 

“I wasn’t involved in that and if you look at my words and what I said in the speech, they were extremely calming, actually,” Trump said on Fox News. 

The former White House incumbent had asked people to show strength and fight in his January address.

“You’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong. We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,”  Trump can be quoted from the speech.

However, the 45th President believes that the insurrection took place on November 3rd, the election day. 

“It was a protest. The insurrection took place on November 3rd, which was election day. This was a protest and a lot of innocent people are being hurt. A lot of innocent people are being injured,” he said.

“The biggest loser would be Biden, because if it ever changes, and I think it will, then he won’t be able to use it with respect to Hunter [Biden] and all of the things that are going on that are so terrible. So I would think that he’d want to see this upheld, frankly.”
