Two people were injured in a shooting in a nightclub in Toronto’s Entertainment District early Sunday morning, authorities confirmed.

Toronto police tweeted that they received reports of people shot inside a downtown nightclub on the King Street and Bathurst Street intersection, at about 3:33 AM. Both the areas were closed Sunday morning. 

The authorities further added that the officers located a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Both of them, not identified yet, were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victims are in their mid- to-late 20s, an officer told CP24.

The Global News, quoting paramedics, said that they were called to the area of King and Bathurst street around 3:30 a.m.

One man was transported to a local trauma with life-threatening injuries. A woman was also taken to a trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries, they added. 

Police said the investigation was ongoing.

“They were very quickly to respond. And when they did respond they were confronted with people running out of the nightclub,” Officer Jeff Bassingthwaite told CP24. 

Bassingthwaite said police believe there may be another person who was also shot during the incident.

“There might be a third victim based on some of the information we have from inside. So we’re looking and hoping somebody will come forward,” he said. Bassingthwaite further added that the suspect is a Black male who was last seen “exiting the club.”

As per the cp24 report, investigators are reviewing video footage from inside and outside of the club. They are also talking to people around the area or who  happened to drive by the nightclub.
