An old French expression goes – “Revenge is a dish best served cold” and in Budapest on Wednesday, Didier Deschamps’s France will be looking to exact revenge from five years ago. France will lock horns with Portugal with the top spot in Euro 2020 Group F at stake. The two teams meet for the first time after Portugal’s Euro 2016 final win over ‘Les Bleues’.

After scoring a slim win over Germany in their opener, the French were held to a shock 1-1 draw by Hungary. They have four points and lead Group F.

Portugal, on the other hand, registered a 3-0 win versus Hungary before losing 4-2 versus Germany. They will need to avoid defeat to qualify for the round of 16.

Statistics suggest that Portugal have won only one of their last 13 matches against France. The last four matches between Portugal and France have produced three goals. Portugal talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has never scored against France.

Expected lineups:

Portugal: Rui Patrício; Nélson Semedo, Rúben Dias, Pepe, Guerreiro; Danilo, Renato Sanches, João Moutinho; Bernardo Silva, Ronaldo, Diogo Jota

France: Lloris; Koundé, Varane, Kimpembe, Hernández; Pogba, Kanté, Tolisso; Griezmann, Benzema, Mbappé
