Google on Monday observed International Women’s Day 2021 with a video doodle that celebrates the journey of many firsts in women’s history. The video honours women who “chose to challenge” society to fulfil their dreams in the fields of education, science, civil rights, art and more.

The animated doodle portrays hands paying homage to the women, who overcame obstacles of their time to create a lasting legacy.

Sharing the doodle on Twitter, Google India wrote, “Today’s #GoogleDoodle honours those who pushed open doors for generations of women – in music, education, science and more. To the pioneers of the past, present and future- Happy #InternationalWomensDay.”

International Women’s Day seeks to bridge the gap and give women equality through opportunities and also give them equal status in the society. Celebrated on March 8 every year, the day recognises the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

The theme for this year is “Choose To Challenge.” It seeks to spread awareness about the importance of women’s choice.
