Greta Thunberg, a teenage climate activist, took a jibe at controversial influencer Andrew Tate after he got arrested in Romania on suspicion of human trafficking, rape and forming an organised crime group.
This happened after Romanian police were reportedly able to detain Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate in Bucharest. The police followed Tate’s social media activity to determine his presence in the country and it ended when he responded to the climate activist with a video in a Twitter post.
The two-minute video featured Andrew smoking a cigar while he was brought a pizza, and tried to joke about refusing to recycle the pizza boxes to taunt the climate activist. But it consequently led to local authorities getting a solid hint when the featured boxes were found to be from the popular Romanian pizza chain “Jerry’s Pizza.”
“Romanian authorities needed proof that Andrew Tate was in the country so they reportedly used his social media posts. His ridiculous video yesterday featured a pizza from a Romanian pizza chain, Jerry’s Pizza, confirming he was in the country,” wrote Alejandra Caraballo, a civil rights attorney.
This all started after Tate got involved in a social media controversy on Twitter with teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg. He flaunted his pricey cars with information about their powerful engines. He attempted to mock Thunberg telling he owned 33 cars with “enormous emissions.”
The 19-year-old activist came up with the recent savage reply winning the internet’s admiration yet again. “This is what happens when you don’t recycle your pizza boxes,” Thunberg wrote on Twitter in reference to Tate’s arrest in Bucharest.
Thunberg’s tweet received over a million likes and 156,000 retweets within four hours. In support of Swedish activist, “Greta, I don’t think the planet can handle anymore burning,” wrote Dr Lucky Tran, a Twitter user.
Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism had been waiting for nine months for Tate and his brother to return to Romania. They activated their forces and raided his villa after learning that they were in the country through their social media posts.
