Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Saturday that the nation would help citizens displaced by the Russian invasion, CNN reported.

Zelensky was speaking in a video message when he noted the nation’s ministers are working on a program to provide support to people who were forced to flee, or lost their homes in the war.

The president’s plan is to help those displaced find a job where they are currently located. This is “so that every one of our people, every one of our families had the foundation for life”, Zelensky said.

Housing will also be provided for displaced people and destroyed houses will be rebuilt after the war gets over.

Finally, families which are hosting refugees will also receive financial assistance. Those who house Ukrainians running from combat-stricken or war-torn zones will at the very least be reimbursed for the cost of utilities related to housing the resettled people.

Zelensky also said that a coordination centre was established to handle humanitarian aid for Ukraine, and the president spoke to ambassadors to speed up this process.
