Russia’s attack on Ukraine has been hard on those especially vulnerable, like disabled orphans, who managed to escape from Kyiv, the capital.
Larissa Leonidovna, the director of the Svyatoshinksy orphanage for boys in Kyiv told AP, “Territorially, the orphanages are where the rockets flew, where there were bursts of rifle fire. A metro station near the orphanage was blown up. We spent more than an hour underground during a bombing”.
On Wednesday, a train arrived at Zahony, Hungary, carrying around 200 people with mental and physical disabilities. Speaking about the children, Leonidovna said, “It is very difficult, you can see that it is very difficult, they all need special care and support”.
