Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp on Friday said that there is “no chance” of Liverpool signing Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi, however, Klopp was quick to admit the “Little Magician” would be a great addition to the Premier League. Messi had recently told Barcelona that he wished to leave the club, following his dissatisfaction with the club’s problems on and off the pitch.

The playmaker from Barcelona has already been linked with a move to Manchester City, where he has the option of teaming up with former coach Pep Guardiola.

Similarly, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus have been touted as possible destinations for the Argentine if he does leave Barcelona.

While Klopp insisted that he would love to have Messi, he added that the 33-year-old would not end up at Liverpool.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Klopp said, “Interest? Who doesn’t want to have Messi in their team? But no chance.”

Liverpool recently won the English Premier League title after a gap of 30 years. Liverpool finished top of 18 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City.

Klopp was quick to concede that Liverpool’s bid to retain the Premier League title would be under jeopardy if Messi joined Manchester City but admitted that it would be a significant coup for English football if one of the world’s best player joined the English Premier League.

Klopp said, “It would obviously help Man City and make it more difficult to beat them.”

The German coach added “For the Premier League it would be great, but I am not sure the Premier League needs that boost.,”Good player to be honest! It would be interesting to see as well. Messi has never played in another league, other than Spain.,”Actually, I would like to see it but I’m not sure I will.”

Liverpool will meet Arsenal in the showdown for the Community Shield at Wembley on Saturday.

Speaking of the game at hand Klopp said “Would I want to play a proper game after two weeks’ preparation? No, but we knew it for a while.”

He added “It took a while until we got any schedule but since we’ve known it we’ve accepted it 100 percent. We have had two weeks’ training and worked really hard.,For us, like Arsenal, we prepare for a whole season – one of the most intense, probably, we have ever experienced in our lives because of the amount of games and the time we have for that.”

Klopp also said “It will be intense but nobody is moaning. We are happy we can play at all. Time is still uncertain for all of us, not only in football.”

Liverpool has signed Greece left-back Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiakos, this transfer window. Speaking about acquisitions made by Manchester City and Chelsea, Klopp said, “We will see what other teams are doing, we will deal with our situation like we always did. We will see how much we can or want to spend.”
