A small group of Israeli supporters were attacked by Hamas supporters on the streets of Germany. Police soon intervened and the situation is now under control.
Israel has officially declared war following a significant escalation of hostilities that began with an unprecedented surprise attack by Hamas fighters. The conflict has resulted in a devastating toll, with at least 700 people reportedly killed in Israel and more than 400 in Gaza due to Israeli airstrikes.
In response to the crisis, the United Nations Security Council convened an emergency meeting, held behind closed doors. However, no immediate action was taken regarding a demand from the United States that all 15 members strongly condemn “these heinous terrorist attacks committed by Hamas.”
U.S. Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood emphasized that the United States has consistently condemned violence against innocent civilians, regardless of whether they are Israeli or Palestinian. He stressed the importance of not drawing a false equivalency between Hamas’s actions and Israel’s efforts to ensure its security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, described the Hamas attack as “Israel’s 9/11,” drawing a parallel to the 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States that claimed nearly 3,000 lives. He expressed concern for the hostages held captive in Gaza, pledging that Israel would take all necessary measures to bring them home safely.
Following the meeting, Wood noted that while a significant number of countries denounced Hamas’s unprecedented incursion into Israel, not all did so.
Russia’s Ambassador to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, clarified that Russia condemns all attacks on civilians and emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire and meaningful negotiations that have been stalled for decades.
China’s Ambassador to the UN, Zhang Jun, expressed a similar stance, emphasizing the importance of stopping the fighting immediately and initiating meaningful negotiations.

Wood insisted that the international community must strongly condemn the unprovoked invasion and terrorist attacks by Hamas until the group ceases its violent activities against the Israeli people.
The situation remains complex and volatile, with international efforts ongoing to address the escalating conflict and seek a path towards peace and stability in the region.
