United States President Joe Biden’s armoured limousine, nicknamed “the Beast”, found itself stuck in traffic as it made its way to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral at Westminster Abbey on Monday morning, according to a report from the Evening Standard.

The vehicle got stuck in traffic near a Pret a Manger, a sandwich chain, where members of the public were shocked to see Joe Biden as he made his way past the Marble Arch area.

In the video, the US President was seen waving to onlookers as his motorcade made its way through the region towards the Queen’s funeral. A man is seen stepping forward in an attempt to get a better glimpse at Biden before being quickly stopped by a Metropolitan Police officer wearing a helmet. Also in the video is a member of the Met Police Special Escort Group seen rushing past the Beast on his bike in an effort to clear up the traffic further down the road.

So far, Biden has been the only one who has been granted  special permission to travel in his own presidential motorcade. Other world leaders like French President Emmanuel Macron and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as well as several heads of state were lumped together and put on a bus. Social media commentators, especially those on Twitter were quick to point out that given the traffic, he’d probably have been better off taking the bus instead.

Other heads of state who were put on a bus include Belgium’s King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia,  Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia as well as the Netherlands’ King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.

On Sunday last week, the US President visited Westminster Hall to pay his respects to the deceased monarch who passed away at the age of 96. Prior to her death, Queen Elizabeth II had met with 13 of the 14 US Presidents over the course of her 70 year reign.

The Queen’s funeral begins at 11am on Monday.
